Baseball Game Preview: Flat Rock Rams vs. Riverview Pirates

The Flat Rock Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the Riverview Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Flat Rock will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

On Monday, Flat Rock earned a 4-1 win over Milan.

Mikey Giroux was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Giroux wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Dwyer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Flat Rock hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milan struck out 12 times.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverview). They put the hurt on Jefferson with a sharp 13-6 victory on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Riverview let Evan Minnick and Miguel Colon run wild. Minnick went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Colon went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave Colon a new career-high. Max Rebeka also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Flat Rock's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Riverview, their record now sits at 6-18.

Everything went Flat Rock's way against Riverview in their previous meeting back in April, as Flat Rock made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
