Softball Game Preview: St. Edward Green Wave vs. Timothy Christian Trojans

For the second straight game, St. Edward will face off against Timothy Christian. The Green Wave will take on the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

St. Edward will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Timothy Christian on Monday. The Green Wave put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 12-5 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Green Wave have posted against the Trojans since May 13, 2021.

Alaina Nolan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Nolan was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since April 4th.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah Gurley, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Layne Dawson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

St. Edward was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Timothy Christian only posted a batting average of .214.

St. Edward is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Timothy Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
