Baseball Game Preview: Hamilton Big Blue vs. Badin Rams

The Hamilton Big Blue will face off against the Badin Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hamilton will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Hamilton had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Goshen on Friday. The Big Blue never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory.

Hamilton let Caleb Warner and William Creach run wild. Warner got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI, while Creach got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Warner is becoming a predictor of Hamilton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-12 when he doesn't).

Hamilton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Badin fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lakota West on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 8-7. It was the first time this season that the Rams let down their fans at home.

Badin got a massive performance out of Cooper Ollis, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Luebbe, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

Hamilton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-12. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Badin, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-5.

Hamilton suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Badin when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Big Blue avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
