Basketball Recap: Tempe Comes Up Short

Tempe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coronado Dons. The Buffaloes were not able to make up for their loss to the Dons from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Kailyn Holsey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Coronado, almost dropping a triple-double on 13 points, nine rebounds, and ten steals. Holsey has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aundrea Rodriguez, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and six steals.

Tempe's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Coronado, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tempe will take on Coconino at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Coconino has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Coronado, they will square off against Glendale at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
