Recap: Dakota Ridge Eagles vs. Chatfield Chargers

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 19 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact the Dakota Ridge Eagles proved on Friday. They came out on top against Chatfield by a score of 63-51. Given Dakota Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Chatfield is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ethan Berninger was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alijah Sawyer, who scored 12 points along with three steals.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drew Rohlman, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for Rohlman. Tony Rondinelli was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

Dakota Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. As for Chatfield, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Dakota Ridge will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Columbine at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Averaging 64.3 so far this season, Columbine's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Dakota Ridge better be ready for a challenge. As for Chatfield, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brighton at 7:30 p.m. Brighton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
