Basketball Game Preview: Bunn Wildcats vs. Rocky Mount Gryphons

Bunn is 1-6 against Rocky Mount since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Both will face off at 7:00 p.m. without much rest having both just played.

On Tuesday, Bunn came up short against Southern Nash and fell 57-49.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mount entered their tilt with Roanoke Rapids on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They claimed a resounding 73-39 victory over the Yellowjackets. The Gryphons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 23 points or more this season.

Bunn better keep an eye on Anthony Jones. He was instrumental in Rocky Mount's win, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Jones has been hot, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brelyn Moses, who posted 11 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Rocky Mount smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Rocky Mount is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Bunn, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Bunn came up short against Rocky Mount when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 50-45. Can Bunn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
