Softball Recap: Mount Desert Island Sets Scoring Season-High Against Caribou

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Desert Island). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Caribou Vikings a 15-0 shutout on Monday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Ella Watson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Watson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Mount Desert Island got a massive performance out of Lanaia McDaniels, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That hit was McDaniels' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Grant, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Mount Desert Island was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Mount Desert Island's record now sits at 4-2. As for Caribou, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
