Football Recap: Teagan Thomas and Alana Gomes Lead the Defense for Carlsbad Win

Carlsbad lost to San Marcos back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Lancers took down the Knights 26-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lancers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Knights are ranked 71st).

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Carlsbad's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Teagan Thomas and Alana Gomes, who racked up all six sacks between them. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Carlsbad has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for San Marcos, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlsbad will take on Helix at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Marcos, they will face off against Cathedral Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
