Hinsdale South extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-20-1 in the process. They lost 9-2 to the Wheaton North Falcons. The Hornets were not able to make up for their loss to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Aliyah Hamilton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Isabella Yanez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Kayla Buckels-Meen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
As for Wheaton North, they moved to 18-6 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Considering they have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
On Wheaton North's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Madison Moore gave up just two earned runs on six hits. Moore has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Wheaton North got a big performance out of Reagan Crosthwaite, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Crosthwaite a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Del Preto, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hinsdale South will head out to square off against Downers Grove South at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wheaton North, they will challenge Batavia at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.39 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
