Dynamic duo of Hezron Driver and Colin Lamb lead Laney to victory

Recap: Laney Buccaneers vs. South Brunswick Cougars

The Laney Buccaneers entered their tilt with the South Brunswick Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Laney enjoyed a cozy 70-53 win over South Brunswick on Wednesday. Given Laney's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while South Brunswick is ranked 496th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Laney to victory were Hezron Driver and Colin Lamb. Driver scored 18 points along with six assists, while Lamb scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Trenton Hall, who scored six points.

Laney pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for South Brunswick, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Laney will be playing at home against New Hanover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Hanover is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for South Brunswick, they will head out on the road to face off against Topsail at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Topsail and South Brunswick are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
