Basketball Recap: Bloomfield Beats Aztec for Their Second Straight Win

Bloomfield won the last time they faced Aztec, and Delanna Russell did her part to make sure it happened again. The Bloomfield Bobcats snuck past the Aztec Tigers with a 39-34 win on Thursday thanks in part to Russell, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

The team also got some help courtesy of Catalina Munoz, who posted four points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games she's played.

Aztec lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bailey Clarence, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Clarence has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Autumn Villanueva, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds and seven steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Bloomfield and bumps their season record up to 10-6. As for Aztec, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Bloomfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 32-26 defeat against Shiprock on the 25th. As for Aztec, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-18 win against Miyamura on the 25th.
