Baseball Recap: Atmore Christian Comes Up Short

Atmore Christian extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 26 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They came up short against the Aletheia Christian Academy Lions, falling 18-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in March.

Atmore Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Landis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Aletheia Christian Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-7-1. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Aletheia Christian Academy's side, Rudy Souers made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Souers was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tanner Brock, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brady Carlson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Atmore Christian will venture away from home to face off against Pensacola Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. Aletheia Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
