Baseball Preview: Volunteer Falcons vs. Grainger Grizzlies
The Volunteer Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Grainger Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Volunteer's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Claiborne. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Grainger came into Saturday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Eagleton College & Career Academy 11-5 on Saturday.
The team relied heavily on Josh Walker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Taylor, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
