Baseball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

If Springfield was feeling good fresh off their 19-2 takedown of Manzanola last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Longhorns lost 16-3 to the Elkhart Wildcats on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Longhorns in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Springfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gunner Mackey, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Hudson Gourley was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Elkhart, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Wildcats beat Springfield by a score of 15-4 later that day.
