Softball Recap: Susquehannock Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Susquehannock waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Littlestown Thunderbolts.

Ella Wetzel made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

Wetzel wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mia Wetzel, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Susquehannock pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Littlestown, they moved to 10-4 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Susquehannock will venture away from home to face off against Eastern York at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Littlestown, they will head out to square off against Delone Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
