PikeView hadn't beaten Greenbrier East on the road since April 10, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Panthers came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 6-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Shelby Maddox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cora Belcher, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Lauren Lambert was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Greenbrier West got themselves on the board against Woodrow Wilson on Monday, but Woodrow Wilson never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Flying Eagles, sneaking past 2-0. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Cavaliers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Brilee Redden made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Redden was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Greenbrier West has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for PikeView, they pushed their record up to 9-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. PikeView has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greenbrier West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

PikeView couldn't quite finish off Greenbrier West in their previous meeting back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
