Baseball Recap: Brooke Has No Trouble Against Buckeye Local

Brooke made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Buckeye Local, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bruins put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-1 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Bruins have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrew Murdock made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Murdock was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brooke is undefeated when Murdock posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Garrett Moore was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Brooke: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Zac O'Mery was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

Brooke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Brooke and bumps their season record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Buckeye Local, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brooke will welcome East Liverpool at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Potters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.1 runs per game on average), something the Bruins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Buckeye Local, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Edison at 12:00 p.m. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
