Basketball Recap: Grace Nixon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Viera over Deland

On Wednesday, the Viera Hawks were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-36 to the DeLand Bulldogs. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Viera lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Grace Nixon, who posted ten points. Aleyah Mcfadden was another key player, putting up nine points.

Viera's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for DeLand, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-7.

Viera didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-28 win against Titusville on the 23rd. As for DeLand, they and Deltona will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Deltona has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
