Softball Game Preview: American Canyon Wolves vs. Northgate Broncos

The American Canyon Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Northgate Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, American Canyon came up short against Maria Carrillo and fell 17-13. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Raquel Winterburn and Jayden De Los Santos stepped up to the plate in a big way. Winterburn scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while De Los Santos went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Del Castillo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Northgate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alhambra. The match marked the first time this year in which the Broncos were not able to get on the board.

Northgate saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stella Hanko, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

American Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1. As for Northgate, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. American Canyon hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Northgate struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

American Canyon beat Northgate 5-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
