Basketball Game Preview: La Porte Bulldogs vs. Beaumont United Timberwolves

La Porte is 0-5 against Beaumont United since January of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The La Porte Bulldogs will face off against the Beaumont United Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. La Porte is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.6 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, La Porte made easy work of Texas City and carried off a 78-54 win. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Stingarees are ranked 896th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

La Porte can attribute much of their success to Trent Callies, who posted ten points along with seven assists and five steals, and Caden Watson, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 13 points and four steals. Callies is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kente Winrow, who had ten points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: La Porte was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Texas City only posted three assists.

Meanwhile, Beaumont United came up short against West Brook on Tuesday and fell 54-46. The Timberwolves have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

La Porte's record now sits at 22-11. As for Beaumont United, their loss dropped their record down to 22-10.

La Porte took a serious blow against Beaumont United when the teams last played back in February of 2021, falling 92-54. Thankfully for La Porte, Trealyn Porchia (who went 11-for-12 to rack up 23 points in addition to five boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
