Softball Recap: Alexander Beats Kennesaw Mountain for Their Fifth Straight Win

Alexander had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Kennesaw Mountain on Tuesday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 12-1 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Erin Vineyard made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Madison Smith was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kenzie Townsend was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The win keeps Alexander at an undefeated 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.0 runs this season. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Alexander is set to challenge their familiar foe Villa Rica at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 2, the Wildcats 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Kennesaw Mountain will take on rival Rome at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
