Softball Game Preview: Hug Hawks vs. North Valleys Panthers

Hug hasn't had much luck against North Valleys recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Hawks will be playing at home against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Hug has given up an average of 14.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hug is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Truckee, falling 20-2. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, the Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.

Hug saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alessandra Barrientos, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Valleys). They put the hurt on Wooster with a sharp 22-1 win on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.

North Valleys' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Hug, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Hug might still be hurting after the 19-1 defeat they got from North Valleys when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
