Basketball Recap: Lima Christian Takes a Loss

If Lima Christian was feeling good fresh off their 46-21 takedown of Hinsdale Central back in January, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lima Christian Saints were beaten by the Young Women's College Prep Griffins 81-44 on Wednesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 77-27 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Lima Christian lost, don't look at Alyssa Marsh. Despite the final result, she posted 29 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 65.9% of Lima Christian's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Abby Dils was another key player, putting up four points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Lima Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lima Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Young Women's College Prep, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

Lima Christian will head out on the road to challenge Mount Morris at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Young Women's College Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Finney on Wednesday. One thing working in Finney's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
