Basketball Recap: Hancock County Indians vs. West Greene Buffaloes

Hancock County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 26th straight defeat dating back to last season. The match between them and the West Greene Buffaloes didn't end well, with the Hancock County Indians falling 47-28. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-26 back in December of 2024.

West Greene found their leader in sophomore Emily Justis, who went 7 for 13 en route to 15 points. That's the most points Justis has posted since back in December of 2024. Joie Shipley was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Hancock County's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for West Greene, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hancock County will face off against North Greene at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. North Greene will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Hancock County surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Greene, they will take on Cherokee at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
