Richmond hasn't had much luck against Pendleton Heights recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Red Devils will face off against the Arabians at 2:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Richmond is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Muncie Central a 6-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Red Devils as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Weston Jones was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Burdette, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Pendleton Heights narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mt. Vernon 1-0. The win continues a trend for the Arabians in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won four in a row.
Pendleton Heights also got a great performance from Brody Stevenson as he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Pendleton Heights saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Axel-Adams, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Hudson Frank also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Pendleton Heights hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Richmond's record now sits at 12-14. As for Pendleton Heights, their record is now 19-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Richmond has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pendleton Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Richmond might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Pendleton Heights in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
