Soccer Game Preview: Lafayette vs. Itawamba Agricultural

Lafayette is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Itawamba Agricultural is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lafayette Commodores will host the Itawamba Agricultural Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lafayette's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over New Hope. Give the Commodores' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Itawamba Agricultural made easy work of Tishomingo County on Monday and carried off a 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won eight games by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Tishomingo County from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Dylan Walters led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Lafayette has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those nine contests. As for Itawamba Agricultural, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5-1.
