Baseball Recap: Lumberton Comes Up Short on the Road Against Pine Forest

Lumberton had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Pine Forest Trojans by a score of 4-3. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost three in a row.

Caiden Hall was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shaun Henderson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Coming up, Lumberton will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on West Bladen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pine Forest, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-9 victory against Gray's Creek on the 26th.
