Basketball Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss

Monroe lost against Oakwood back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Monroe Hornets might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Oakwood Lumberjacks an easy 55-30 win. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 203rd).

Monroe has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Oakwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Monroe will finish 2024 at home by hosting Middletown at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Northwestern at 2:30 p.m. on December 30th.
