Football Game Preview: Bishop O'Connell Knights vs. Paul VI Panthers

The Bishop O'Connell Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Paul VI Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop O'Connell has given up an average of 34 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bishop O'Connell's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Archbishop Carroll on Saturday. They were beaten by the Lions 43-0. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 222nd in Virginia, while the Lions are ranked sixth in District of Columbia).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Paul VI duked it out with Bishop Ireton on Saturday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 42-17 margin over the Cardinals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Paul VI didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Grayson Woo picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Bishop O'Connell dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Paul VI, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Bishop O'Connell took a serious blow against Paul VI in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 38-0. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
