Softball Recap: DC International Dragons vs. Idea Timberwolves
After flying high against Girls Global Academy last Wednesday, DC International came back down to earth. The DC International Dragons fell just short of the Idea Timberwolves by a score of 13-12 on Tuesday. DC International was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Idea apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
Maci Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-3 with a home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Melissa Marquez Martinez was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
Having lost for the first time this season, DC International fell to 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DC International will square off against KIPP College Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. DC International knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past three games -- so hopefully KIPP College Prep likes a good challenge. As for Idea, they will head out on the road to face off against Richard Wright Public Charter School at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Idea is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
