Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Cleveland Central's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

Cleveland Central's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They snuck past the Gentry Rams with a 40-35 victory. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Rams are ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Gentry lost, don't look at Zion Brown. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards. That's the most points Brown has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aniya Williams, who posted two points and ten rebounds.

Cleveland Central has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Gentry, they dropped their record down to 9-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cleveland Central will square off against Yazoo City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gentry, they will face off against Canton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Canton will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Gentry surely won't give up without a fight.
