Basketball Game Preview: Kennedy Cougars vs. Washington Warriors

Kennedy and Washington are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Kennedy Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Washington Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Washington likes a good challenge.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kennedy took on Linn-Mar on Monday. Kennedy came out on top against Linn-Mar by a score of 63-50.

Meanwhile, Washington hadn't done well against Cedar Falls recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Washington enjoyed a cozy 66-47 victory over Cedar Falls. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Tigers are ranked 14th).

Washington's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Kennedy, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Kennedy beat Washington 50-39 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kennedy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
