Columbia Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Page proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Patriots have won ten contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Columbia Central's batters probably weren't too happy with Emily King, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up three walks). King has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Riley Vaughan was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenzie Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Page and bumps their season record up to 19-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Columbia Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-10 record this season.
Page will take on Waverly Central at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Columbia Central, they are taking a road trip to challenge Cascade at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
