Softball Recap: Cary-Grove Trojans vs. Huntley Red Raiders
Cary-Grove had lost eight straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 7-18 to make it nine. They lost 13-3 to the Huntley Red Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 back in April.
Cary-Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Holly Streit, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Emily Glen also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
As for Huntley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-12. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
On Huntley's side, Gretchen Huber looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Madison Rozanski was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Boskey, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Coming up, Cary-Grove is taking a road trip to square off against Crystal Lake South at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans are facing the Gators at the right time seeing as the Gators are stuck on a 21-game losing streak. As for Huntley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-0 victory against Central on the 13th.
