Baseball Game Preview: Anna Rockets vs. Piqua Indians

The Anna Rockets will head out on the road to take on the Piqua Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Anna is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Bath just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 10-5 to the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Piqua). They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Stebbins on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded Piqua with their most commanding win of the season.

Hunter Steinke made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Cohen Brown was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack McMaken, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Piqua always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Piqua pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Anna, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Anna came out on top in a nail-biter against Piqua when the teams last played back in March of 2018, sneaking past 10-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
