Sunnyslope piles up the points against Mountain Ridge

Make it seven blowout wins for the Sunnyslope Vikings this season. They really took it to Mountain Ridge for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-33 win on the road. Given Sunnyslope's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Mountain Ridge is ranked 157th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Sunnyslope to victory were Maggie Luba and Teagan McIlroy. Luba scored 13 points along with four steals, while McIlroy scored 14 points along with five steals. McIlroy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Abbey Roth was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Sunnyslope's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Mountain Ridge, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Sunnyslope will be playing at home against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty and Sunnyslope are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. As for Mountain Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Pinnacle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
