Basketball Recap: La Jolla Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

La Jolla had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 76-51 to the Bonita Vista Barons on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Barons: they've now lost five in a row.

When it comes to explaining why La Jolla lost, don't look at Brody Sessa. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Sessa is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Leo Hawkinson was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Bonita Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jerry Stokes, who shot 57% from the field en route to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Josh Hansen, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and eight steals.

La Jolla wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-44 defeat against Sage Creek on the 17th. As for Bonita Vista, they will challenge Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
