Springfield Renaissance saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Pe?a, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Delianie Jaiman also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
As for Commerce, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won three matchups by 12 runs or more so far this season.
On Commerce's side, Adrianna Medina was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Medina has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, four stolen bases, and seven RBI while going 5-for-5. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Genevieve Conis-Koffman and Nylah Santa did most of the damage at the plate: Conis-Koffman got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Santa got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Nyasia Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Springfield Renaissance will head out on the road to face off against Hampden Charter School of Science at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Springfield Renaissance will need to watch out since Hampden Charter School of Science has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Commerce, they will host Westfield Technical Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
