Del Valle is 0-4 against Wylie since May of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Conquistadores will take on the Bulldogs. Del Valle will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Del Valle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Andress a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Conquistadores have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
ISAIAH GONZALEZ made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Del Valle let ISAAC PADILLA and DANIEL JUAREZ run wild. PADILLA went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while JUAREZ went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave PADILLA a new career-high. BRYAN GARCIA was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Del Valle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wylie had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They came out on top against Plainview by a score of 6-2.
Brady Gay looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, Wylie saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Garrett, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another was Hudson Tuley, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.
Wylie's victory bumped their record up to 21-5-1. As for Del Valle, their win bumped their record up to 20-10.
Del Valle came up short against Wylie when the teams last played back in May of 2023, falling 6-1. Can the Conquistadores avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
