Baseball Game Preview: Mitchell Bluejackets vs. Crawford County Wolfpack

The Mitchell Bluejackets will take on the Crawford County Wolfpack at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Crawford County took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mitchell, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Mitchell turned things around against Loogootee on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Lions.

Gavin Martin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dason Kerr, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Mitchell is 2-1 when Kerr posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Conner Teague was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Crawford County scored first but ultimately less than Paoli in their game on Thursday. They came up short against the Rams, falling 14-4. The Wolfpack haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Crawford County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.

Mitchell took their win against Crawford County in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 10-3 score. Do the Bluejackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolfpack turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
