Union Pines is 8-2 against Lee County since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Union Pines Vikings just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Lee County Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Union Pines' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.

Union Pines is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Richmond on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Union Pines lost 86-65 to Richmond. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (59), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Pinecrest typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Lee County proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over the Patriots. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Yellow Jackets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Patriots are ranked 156th).

Lee County is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Union Pines, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.

Union Pines couldn't quite finish off Lee County in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 62-60. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lee County's Nick Farrow, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists.
