Southern is 7-0 against Chaney since April of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Southern Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Chaney Cowboys at 5:00 p.m.
Southern took care of business in their home opener on Monday (barely). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Chaney.
Mason Pitts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Pitts was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
Pitts wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Brown, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Southern skirted past Chaney 6-5 in their previous matchup on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southern since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
