Softball Recap: Meridian Bobcats vs. Dongola Demons
Meridian extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-13 in the process. They lost 16-6 to the Dongola Demons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 back in April.
As for Dongola, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Dongola's part, they got a massive performance out of Kinley Lingle, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave Lingle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Honor Sheppard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Looking ahead, Meridian will challenge Egyptian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pharaohs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.73 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. Dongola does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
