Recap: Otis Bulldogs vs. Bethune Bobcats
The Otis Bulldogs's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They strolled past Bethune with points to spare, taking the game 38-23. The win was just what Otis needed coming off of a 63-25 defeat in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Otis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lydia Willeke, who scored nine points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Layce Perry, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Bethune still got an impressive performance from Madilyn Powell, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Powell pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Otis' win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Bethune, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Otis will be playing at home against Idalia at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bethune won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lone Star at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Lone Star focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 back in December of 2023.
