Football Recap: Walnut Ridge Starts Season with Loss at Home

Walnut Ridge unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 30-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Poinsett County Warriors on Friday. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Walnut Ridge lost, don't look at Jace Blake. Despite the final result, he rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 28 yards and one TD.

Coming up, Walnut Ridge is taking a road trip to take on Trumann at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Poinsett County, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Rivercrest at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
