Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Golden Bears vs. Oxford Yellow Jackets

Lincoln hasn't had much luck against Oxford recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lincoln Golden Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Oxford Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. Oxford took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln, who comes in off a win.

While Lincoln didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They won by a run and slipped past Mountain Brook 5-4.

The team relied heavily on Aubrey Machen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she's hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Crow, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Oxford came up short against St. Clair County on Monday and fell 5-2. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lincoln's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Oxford, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Lincoln might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Oxford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Lincoln avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
