Soccer Game Preview: Heritage vs. Lakeside

The Heritage Patriots will face off against the Lakeside Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lakeside better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Heritage really get things going. Everything went Heritage's way against Rancho Christian on Thursday as Heritage made off with a 6-2 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, Lakeside was able to grind out a solid victory over Perris on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1. The win was all the more spectacular given the Lancers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 430th, while the Panthers are ranked 181st).

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-11-3. As for Lakeside, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.

Heritage took their win against Lakeside when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 7-1. Does Heritage have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakeside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
