Basketball Recap: Ouray Comes Up Short

Ouray was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They were dealt a 47-12 defeat at the hands of the Mancos Bluejays. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-14 back in January.

Mancos found their leader in freshman Tinsley Aspromonte, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Aspromonte has scored at least a third of Mancos' points. Randi Lewis was another key player, putting up 11 points and five steals.

Ouray's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Mancos, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Coming up, Ouray will face off against Olathe at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ouray is facing Olathe at the right time seeing as Olathe is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Mancos, they will square off against Montezuma-Cortez at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
