Softball Recap: Edgewood Sets Scoring Season-High Against Edison

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edgewood). They put the hurt on the Edison Chargers with a sharp 10-4 win on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jaycie Broshear spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evelyn Henson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leigha Combs, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Edgewood picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Edison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Edgewood will head out to take on Princeton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Edison, they will face off against Huron at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
