Basketball Recap: Gamble Montessori Gators vs. DePaul Cristo Rey
While the Gamble Montessori Gators couldn't quite beat DePaul Cristo Rey on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 30-point defeat they were dealt last Wednesday. Gamble Montessori fell just short of the by a score of 31-28. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gamble Montessori has scored all season.
Nyeemah Pickens had a dynamite game for DePaul Cristo Rey, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pickens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jazmin Tubbs, who dropped a double-double on 12 rebounds and ten blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for Gamble Montessori and nudges their season record down to 13-5. As for DePaul Cristo Rey, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gamble Montessori will take on the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for DePaul Cristo Rey, they will be playing at home against the Fighting Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Healthy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the in Ohio (the Fighting Owls are ranked 263rd, while the are ranked 588th).
